A young maid stands at the kitchen window, her back to us, a red skirt catching the only warmth in the room. Pale yellowish-white curtains frame the window, their soft fabric diffusing the golden light that pours through the old panes and silhouettes her figure against the glow — turning an ordinary moment into something quietly extraordinary. This is The Maid in the Kitchen, painted between 1883 and 1886 by Danish artist Anna Ancher (1859–1935), one of the most gifted painters of the Skagen movement — the celebrated colony of Scandinavian artists who gathered on the northern tip of Denmark to paint light, life, and the people around them. Ancher had a particular genius for interior light, and this painting is among her finest examples of it. Deep shadows, a rustic window, worn floorboards, and a beautifully observed stillness give this print a timeless, atmospheric quality. Delivery & Processing Time
All orders are processed within 1-to-2 business days (this excludes weekends and national holidays) of receiving your order confirmation email. You will also receive another notification when your order has been shipped.
We currently only ship to the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. We do not deliver to P.O Boxes, Military addresses and restricted areas. All shipping costs are shown upon checkout.
