About This Print
English portrait painter John Hoppner created this moody portrait between 1758 and 1810. Hoppner, who lived from 1758 to 1810, was one of the leading portraitists of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, known for his elegant depictions of British aristocracy and gentry. He was a rival to Thomas Lawrence and served as Portrait Painter to the Prince of Wales. This portrait exemplifies his skill with light and atmosphere — the subject, an Irish gentleman, is rendered against a dark background with careful attention to expression and character. We currently only ship to the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. We do not deliver to P.O Boxes, Military addresses and restricted areas. All shipping costs are shown upon checkout.
